Taliesin JaffeSince joining Critical Role in 2015, Taliesin has played four player characters — each one a study in how craft, care, and just a little theatrical excess can turn a D&D sheet into something fans tattoo on their arms.
Campaign 1: Percival de Rolo (2015–2017)
Percival Fredrickstein von Musel Klossowski de Rolo III — "Percy" to friends — is the gunslinging noble who turned Vox Machina into one of Exandria's most famous adventuring parties. A brooding inventor haunted by the massacre of his family at Whitestone, Percy introduced firearms to a fantasy setting and spent his arc wrestling with vengeance, guilt, and the cost of power.
His eventual marriage to Vex'ahlia, reconciliation with his sister Cassandra, and heroic fight in The Legend of Vox Machina animated series have made Percy one of the franchise's most-loved characters.
Campaign 2: Mollymauk Tealeaf (2018)
"Molly" — a flamboyant, lavender-skinned tiefling blood hunter with a peacock coat and a tarot deck — was Taliesin's second character. His tenure was short but unforgettable, ending in a heartbreakingly early death at the hands of the villain Lorenzo. Molly's philosophy ("Leave the world more interesting than you found it") has become a Critical Role touchstone.
Campaign 2: Caduceus Clay (2018–2021)
After Molly's death, Taliesin introduced Caduceus — a towering pink-haired firbolg cleric of the Wildmother, speaking in gentle riddles and drinking tea while the world burned around him. Caduceus was the calm, compassionate heart of the Mighty Nein, a grounded contrast to the chaos the party tended to attract.
Campaign 3: Ashton Greymoore (2022–present)
Ashton is a scarred, spiky, earth genasi barbarian — former crime-kid turned reluctant protagonist of Bells Hells. With punk-rock style, a cracked skull held together by crystal, and trauma that surfaces in bursts of rage, Ashton represents Taliesin at his most willing to play an imperfect, angry, deeply human character.

A Craft of Contradictions
What unites Percy, Molly, Caduceus, and Ashton is how precisely Taliesin draws their contradictions. Percy pretends to be cold but loves fiercely. Molly performed flamboyance to hide amnesia. Caduceus is gentle but unflinching about death. Ashton pushes people away because nobody's ever stayed. Every character comes with a tic, a favorite drink, a secret fear, a specific way of sitting down.
